Course Objectives

This course is designed to introduce students to the idea that film can be the focus of serious academic study and an art form. Upon completion of this course,

1.       Students will demonstrate an understanding of the evolution of hallmark American films.

2.       Students will develop a cultural literacy of American film with connections to American history and life situations.

3.       Students will recognize various film genres and cultural icons of film.

4.       Students will recognize the impact of the director in the creative film process.

5.       Students will employ the writing process (pre-write, write, revise, edit) in a variety of situations. 

6.       Students will become skilled viewers and critics of film.

7.       Students will demonstrate the mastery of new vocabulary specifically related to film.

8.       Students will demonstrate communication skills through the practice of discussion and presentation techniques.

Cite Your Sources

Remember:
