Contemporary global studies is an opportunity to examine important cultural, economic, political and social practices that shape our world. Identifying and comparing key similarities and differences across communities, countries, and continents helps to encourage global understanding.

Competencies

Geopolitical Tensions: Using multiple sources of data, students will analyze and interpret how political boundaries contribute to geo-political tensions in conflict areas.

Regional Issues: Using multiple news and research media, students will deconstruct modern regional issues and predict its global impact and outcomes.

Ideology: Students will synthesize and defend the relationship between ideology and human behavior and explain what factors contribute to opposing philosophies.

Resources: Using multiple sources of data, students will analyze and form conclusions regarding population trends, and the competition for available natural resources.
